08:35 <ejpcmac> Hello! I just rebooted my FreeBSD server, which have a rc startup script for an Elixir OTP app made with Distillery. The application is running well as expected, but when I try to ping or attach to it, I get a “Node is not running!”. In `var/erl_pipes/my_app@127.0.0.1` I have a pipe created after the system reboot however.
08:38 <ejpcmac> Here is my startup script : https://gist.github.com/ejpcmac/ed11ba399025608e136d9f4f71616e9d
08:39 <ejpcmac> It worked well when I tried to `service my_app start | stop | status` before reboot.

15:00 <m1dnight_> Hey guys, still going through the phoenix book here. For some reason my assoc_constraint is not validated when I update a value in ecto
15:01 <m1dnight_> https://hastebin.com/jeyiriliqa.m <- REPL, https://hastebin.com/sekuziwezu.rb model
15:02 <m1dnight_> According to the docs it checks if a parent (belongs_to) exists and I don't have that category id in my database (checked with pgadmin)
15:02 <m1dnight_> So im unsure how to proceed right now
15:02 <m1dnight_> What does strike me as odd is that the changeset is empty all the time
15:03 <m1dnight_> E.g., rule 42 in the REPL history
15:03 <m1dnight_> Is that supposed to be that way?
15:03 <m1dnight_> oh wait, the data is not persisted (category id) in the database, let me fix that first
15:06 <Nicd-> your model's changeset function does not take :category_id as an argument
15:06 <Nicd-> it only takes :url, :title, :description
15:06 <m1dnight_> but that's in the params, right?
15:06 <m1dnight_> i just checked that
15:06 <m1dnight_> do you mean cast? that's what i was inspecting right now
15:06 <Nicd-> yes
15:06 <m1dnight_> gotcha, the category is not in cast indeed
15:07 <m1dnight_> thanks Nicd-

15:10 <mrus> Could someone point me to the documentation for `@derive { Poison.Encoder }`? I seem to be looking in the wrong places for it. I'm basically intrested in the options available (e.g. :only), as I'm looking for the opposite of :only (:not ?).
15:12 <mrus> That's basically what I found so far: https://hexdocs.pm/poison/Poison.Encoder.html#encode/2 - not that helpful.
15:12 <ljarvis> mrus: https://github.com/devinus/poison/blob/master/lib/poison/encoder.ex#L355-L357 -- maybe you want `except`?
15:13 <mrus> ljarvis: except sounds like what I'm looking for. So basically the source-code is the documentation, alright. Thank you!
15:14 <ljarvis> mrus: wasn't sure about docs, but I knew @derive had a __deriving__ hook so I looked for that, and it looks like it's undocumented in that source code. Perhaps a good candidate for a PR!
15:14 <ljarvis> lots of it is undocumented tbh
15:16 <mrus> Indeed a good condidate!
15:16 <mrus> will try to PR.

20:41 <MarioFlach> Hello, I'm trying to implement a function put/2 to add an item to a many_to_many field.
20:41 <MarioFlach> I'm using Ecto.Changeset.put_assoc/2 which seems to work great when inserting a new item.
20:42 <MarioFlach> But when i try to put the SAME item multiple times, no query is executed (noop).
20:43 <MarioFlach> I did not set any unique constraints on the DB and inserting an existing item manually works good, but not with put_assoc wich seems to ignore the change.
20:44 <MarioFlach> Any ideas?
