12:26 <Kolejarz> hi all
12:26 <Kolejarz> I have an newbie question about MongoDB and multithreading
12:27 <Kolejarz> I have an collection of ~10kk documents, that I want to process in parallel
12:28 <Kolejarz> what should I look for? I want every thread to be able to query collection without getting same results
12:28 <Kolejarz> and each thread will process only 100-200 documents at once

15:00 <malwar3hun73r> i'm trying to compile mongodb from source on ubuntu 16.04 (b/c I need to up the BSON document size limit). I'm using apt-get source to grab the source and dpkg-buildpackage to build after making necessary mods. I keep getting this error:
15:00 <malwar3hun73r> src/mongo/db/dur_commitjob.cpp:147:9: error: invalid application of 'sizeof' to incomplete type 'boost::STATIC_ASSERTION_FAILURE<false>' BOOST_STATIC_ASSERT( sizeof(void*)==4 || UncommittedBytesLimit > BSONObjMaxInternalSize * 6 )
15:01 <malwar3hun73r> any help would be MUCH appreciated!!

21:02 <BlueProtoman> If I have a lot of identical strings inside a MongoDB collection (say, from a finite set), does MongoDB store every single string? Or just pointers to some string table?

22:09 <codeamend> hello folks
22:29 <malwar3hun73r> anyone here familiar with compiling from source?
22:31 <Derick> i've done it
22:34 <Derick> BlueProtoman: every single string
22:34 <codeamend> I want to ask a question on how to ask a question... no really, I do not know what you call it :)
22:35 <Derick> try...
22:35 <codeamend> lets say I have a Skill that has {name:String, level:Number}
22:35 <codeamend> I have a Project that has many Skills. Also each Skill needs a weight.
22:36 <codeamend> So Project is {name:String, skills: [{ skill:Skill, level: Number }]
22:36 <codeamend> is somethign like this possible?
22:36 <Derick> yes, sure
22:36 <codeamend> What is this called so I can read about it?
22:36 <Derick> it's called an embedded document
22:38 <codeamend> Would you mind looking at my website, It is just a static design I threw togther a couple days ago. I am building the API right now, but at the same time learning about Mongo.
22:38 <codeamend> I am trying to figure out how to draw this schema.
22:38 <codeamend> www.codeamend.com If you look at each section, I have Skills, Projects and Education
22:39 <codeamend> It will be react components and when you click a skill, info will pop up. When you click a project, info will pop up.
22:41 <codeamend> I think I have most of it done, but the question is Which models hold what info?
22:41 <codeamend> https://github.com/CodeAmend/portfolio-static-site
22:42 <codeamend> BTW... is sub-document same thing as embedded document?
