12:58 <Ad1Tech> hi, I've got a question about mongodb Replica Set
12:59 <Ad1Tech> i've got now standalone instance of mongodb
12:59 <Ad1Tech> and I want to build replica set on it
13:00 <Ad1Tech> is it possible to lose data from database doing rs.initiate() ??
13:00 <Ad1Tech> I don't want to lose it
13:00 <Ad1Tech> db server must work without mainterance and now there is about 2TB of data

13:29 <Mmike> Hi, lads. Anyone doing some golang stuff with mongo? I'm using mgo driver, but can't seem to be able to connect to mongodb that doesn't have authentication enabled. When I used mgo.DialInfo, and I don't supply username/password, the program just stops on DialInfo, no error, no nothing...
13:31 <edrocks> Mmike: are you sure it's disabled? You can turn on debugging https://godoc.org/gopkg.in/mgo.v2#SetDebug also see SetLogger just beneath it
13:31 <edrocks> also I think mongodb 3.5 forces auth or at least enables it by default
13:38 trevor joined
13:39 <Mmike> edrocks, i'm trying to connect to mongo 2.4 and 3.0, and it is disabled - i can connect with mongo shell just like that
13:39 <Mmike> I'll check the debug options, thnx for pointing those out :)
13:40 <edrocks> Mmike: hmm, can you try a 3.4 instance? We've always kept recent with mongodb stable updates and have been using mgo for several years on multiple projects

13:40 <edrocks> otherwise post some code and I can look it over

15:22 <DrYucatan> I'm having a bit of a hard time understanding the order in which operations occur for findAndModify - if two clients simultaneously query for a document based on the value of field and then attempt to update that field (say, where status : "PENDING") does the first findAndModify execute in its entirety before the second, or is there a possibility that both could gain access to the same document but in
15:22 <DrYucatan> the process, one of them manages to make the modification while the other has access to that document?
15:22 <DrYucatan> if that makes sense

15:51 <jonkri> Hi! Is it possible to get all documents from a collection where the ID of the document is EITHER in one property or another in a document in another collection? Thanks!
15:53 <jonkri> Specifically, I want to get all documents from a collection A where the ID of the document is in at least one out of two properties in a document from collection B (that is, there is a value B.x or B.y that is equal to the A.ObjectId).
15:54 <FrozenSolid> you could probably do two lookups in an aggregation
15:55 <jonkri> FrozenSolid: Ah, I was wondering if that was possible. :)
15:55 <FrozenSolid> yup! i use it all the time
15:55 <FrozenSolid> my mian search query is atrocious and uses like 3 lookups and a few unwinds all together
15:56 <FrozenSolid> do two lookups, then match or
15:56 <jonkri> What does it unwind the "as" property?
15:57 <FrozenSolid> it just attaches the lookup as the property named there. to unwind you have to use the $unwind command
15:59 <FrozenSolid> https://pastebin.com/nsNrFW6x there's an example of a couple lookups, unwinds, and groups all happenign at once
15:59 <jonkri> Why is unwind necessary though?
15:59 <FrozenSolid> you don't necessarily need unwind. i just have to use them for my usecase
16:00 <jonkri> Also, this can give me a huge array, and I only want to have the documents where this array that is being produced has a length of 1 or more.
16:00 <jonkri> Can I filter the aggregation in this way?
16:00 <FrozenSolid> db.accommodations.find( { $where: "this.name.length > 1" } );
16:01 orbyt_ joined
16:01 <FrozenSolid> https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7811163/query-for-documents-where-array-size-is-greater-than-1
16:01 <jonkri> Oh, no, I mean on the result of the aggregation.
16:01 <FrozenSolid> yeah it's just another pipe of teh same aggregation
16:01 <jonkri> So I aggregate with two lookups, and then I want to keep only the document where I found things in the foreign collection.
16:01 <jonkri> documents*
16:01 <FrozenSolid> so lookup, lookup, match or, filter
16:02 <jonkri> OK, thanks. :)

16:02 <FrozenSolid> if i'm understanding you correctly
16:02 <FrozenSolid> fair warning though lookups can be slow/cpu intensive

16:05 <DrYucatan> In Morphia, if two clients perform a `findAndModify` concurrently on the same document, will the entity returned by the failing findAndModify be `null`, or is there another way for the client to know the result of its attempt at the operation?
