23:09 <fleeky> hi there , trying out mplayer -vo aa file.mov the file will start playing but then the output hangs
23:09 <fleeky> its opening up an x-window to display the output, but hangs after a second any ideas? also only displays a small 8 collumn strip of the video
23:10 <fleeky> running mplayer 1.1-4.8

23:26 <iive> does it hang with -vo null ?
23:27 <iive> btw, 1.1 is like 5 years old.
23:49 <fleeky> sorry i should be more specific , by hang i mean the ascii art video stops playing but the sound keeps going
23:50 <fleeky> so mplayer keeps going till end of file
23:52 <fleeky> hrm, tried mplayer2 real quick but it doesnt seem to be compiled aa support
23:54 <Compn> fleeky : try caca instead
23:54 <Compn> aa is really old
23:54 <Compn> i think vlc might do aa as well, or it used to
23:54 <fleeky> caca seems to do the same thing
23:54 <fleeky> except it survives a second or so longer
23:55 <fleeky> oh huh, ok mplayer2 caca works fine
23:55 <fleeky> just need to mess around with font and figure out how to get black/white output
23:55 <fleeky> thanks Compn :)
23:55 <Compn> can probably use mplayer filter to kill color
23:56 <Compn> -vf eq or -vf eq2 with options...
23:56 <Compn> or -vf hue
23:56 <Compn> -vf gray ?
23:56 <Compn> eheh too many
23:57 <iive> i really wonder why it blocks ...
23:57 <iive> works for me :}
23:58 <iive> btw, mplayer2 is fork of mplayer that is no longer developed.
23:59 <fleeky> mplayer2 is no longr developed? funny
23:59 <iive> try -framedrop, maybe you are on Rpi and you don't have enough cpu to play in realtime.
23:59 <iive> there is fork of mplayer2 fork
23:59 <iive> mpv
