13:45 <Zummig777> Vagrant masters, I've discovered a weirdness in Vagrant that I'd like help debugging (I've already tinkered and searched). I'm in a multi machine environment, I'm calling a function configure_vm. At the top of this function, I puts 'in function', when I call a vagrant up, it prints once. In the same function I do 'machine.vm.provider :virtualbox do |vbox|' and in that puts 'loop' - but this loop runs twice. Why does that do call run more
13:45 <Zummig777> than once?

14:30 <jeffreylevesque> i created an ubuntu trusty64 virtualbox, and it seems to have proper partitions. But, after i convert it to a package.box, and load it into vagrant, `dh -f` seems to show the main partition on `/` to be much much smaller than I had intended - https://github.com/jeff1evesque/machine-learning/pull/2947#issuecomment-288288725

15:52 <markamodo> hi, I'm using vagrant with virtualbox but the vm gets created wit the network adapter disconnected. Is there a way to tell vagrant to create the VM with adapter connected? Right now I have to use the gui to go to Devices > Networking > Connect Network Adapter. I've tried my google-fu but no luck.

16:41 <ngrj93> Hello. I am a new user of vagrant and I was wondering if vagrant provides a feature to place multiple vms on the same subnet as the host OS?

17:39 <ngrj93> @shadoxx - Thank you very much for the help!
18:08 <markamodo> I figured it out, I had to add "vb.customize ["modifyvm", :id, "--cableconnected1", "on"]" to my vagrant file, in case anyone runs into the same problem.

18:43 <sandiptiwari87> Hi, I've setup a vagrant configuration with ubuntu/xenial64 as the base and setup a bridged network (in addition to the NAT). I've multiple such VM's running on different physical machines which are on the same physical subnet. When I try to ping one VM from within another one, I'm able to do it, but all pings are getting DUPlicate responses. Any suggestions?

22:58 <Sedated> when i try to bring up an ubuntu vm in virtualbox running on windows and vagrant tries to add the automatic shared folder, it appears in vbox as something like "\\?\C:\Vagrant\Projects" and fails to mount. is there a solution to that
23:04 maccam94 joined
23:06 <spox> Sedated: yes, update your version of virtualbox
23:06 <Sedated> i'm on the latest version
23:06 <Sedated> just updated yesterday
23:07 <spox> what version do you have installed?
23:07 <Sedated> 5.1.18
23:07 <spox> then it should mount fine. if it's failing there is likely an issue with the guest additions on the box
23:08 <Sedated> it works fine when i just remove the \\?\ part at the beginning of the path
23:09 <spox> that was an issue with the 5.1.16 version of virtualbox. if you are seeing that behavior, i would suggest confirming that you have the expected version installed locally
23:11 <Sedated> hmm interesting. i'll uninstall and reinstall vbox and see if that fixes it.
23:13 bmurt joined
23:15 <spox> Sedated: if it still fails, run the command with the --debug flag and put all the output in a gist and i can have a look
23:15 <spox> fwiw, the path you are seeing is correct. vbox just shipped a version that failed to handle them correctly.
23:15 <Sedated> yeah i looked at the changelog and i see exactly the bug that i seem to be experiencing
23:15 <spox> :)

23:52 <Sedated> spox, had to reinstall 5.1.18 _twice_ but the shared folder works now even with the \\?\ prefix. thanks
23:52 <spox> Sedated: you bet. might have been some services or something not getting restarted on the upgrade. regardless, glad it's working :)
